Birth of Ballet

IT WORKS WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT IT! :
-Ballet started in France during the 16th-17th century (Louis XIV established the Academie Royale de Danse in 1661 -- he used to dance ballet himself!)
-It then became really popular in Russia during the late 19th-early 20th century (ironically at the same time ballet was losing its popularity in France!)
-Nearly all the world's most famous ballets (Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, The Rite of Spring, etc.) are from Russia
-The majority of ballet terms -- "en pointe","arabesque", "pirouette", "avant" -- are French words([link])


(OK ballet also has its origins in Italy during the 15th century, but since most of ballet as we know it was developed in France and Russia ...I stuck with drawing these two instead )
